The thread that connects us to our ancestors

Art is part of my soul

Métis art is not just something I make, it’s something I carry. It lives in the stories, the patterns, the colours, and the quiet knowing that comes through my hands. It’s a connection to those who came before me, to the land, and to a culture that continues to rise, even after generations of displacement and disconnection.

When I bead, when I paint, when I create, I’m not just making something beautiful. I’m listening. I’m remembering. I’m honouring.

Our ancestors spoke through floral patterns, through movement, through resilience. Today, we carry that forward. Every piece is a continuation of that story, a way of reclaiming space, identity, and pride.

Revitalizing Métis art is more than preservation, its resurgence. It’s healing. It’s a declaration that we are still here, and our culture is alive, evolving, and thriving.

To create in this way is an honour I don’t take lightly.

And I’m proud to share that journey.
